Fawad felicitates newly elected body of PFUJ

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain felicitated the newly elected body of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) here on Tuesday (15th of February, 2022). 

Congratulating GM Jamali (President), Rana Muhammad Azeem (Secretary General), Jameel Mirza (Treasurer) and others, Fawad Hussain reiterated that the incumbent government believed in freedom of expression.

Maintaining that measures had been taken to resolve predicaments being faced by the community, Minister held that the government would complete legislation of Media Workers’ rights in coordination with PFUJ. He further expressed his hope that the PFUJ would continue to play their role for the protection of their rights.

Moreover, International Federation of Journalists (IFJ)’s Leadership and the Political top brass of the country have sent congratulatory messages to G M Jamali (President), Rana Muhammad Azeem (Secretary General) and other office bearers of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) on winning the PFUJ 2022-2024 elections.

According to the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) election results announced here on Saturday (12th of Feb) for the year 2022-24, while G M Jamali retaining the top slot will serve as President for two more years, Rana Muhammad Azeem was also re-elected and will continue to serve as Secretary General.

According to details GM Jamali received 170 votes while Rana Muhammad Azeem received 169 votes. Jameel Mirza has been reelected as Treasurer and  Ehtesham-ul-Haq was re-elected as Secretary of Information. Fifty members of the Federal Executive Council were elected unopposed by the members who converged here from all over Pakistan.
