Fazlur Rehman playing card of religion in politics: Sh Rasheed

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has lashed out Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazlur-Rehman over his call for protest in the federal capital saying that the JUI-F chief was playing the card of religion in politics.

Addressing a news conference today, the minister said that all the other parties have shown ‘no interest’ in Maulana’s protest call.

“Opposition is now divided. You can see Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has abandoned its support for Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazlur-Rehman for playing the card of religion in politics,” he said.

“Both the PML-N and the PPP cannot function with him [Fazlur-Rehman] as he has some other objectives,” he added.

The minister further went on to add that the government has sent a message to Fazlur-Rehman to not place his foot at a hotspot [Islamabad].

Commenting on the development and the criticism against the government on initiating new projects, Rasheed said  that propaganda campaign was being embarked against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

“Friendship of China and Pakistan is greater than [the altitude] of Himalayas,” he remarked, while commenting on bilateral relations between the neighbouring countries.
