ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi lashed out at the federal government for imposing ‘smart lockdown’ and said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led administration was incapable of stopping the coronavirus spread in the country.
In an interview, Abbasi said: “They [government] has no concrete plan to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. They are even confused whether they should continue the lockdown or lift it. I doubt they are capable to save this country from this virus.”
“The day the prime minister said he would not enforce a lockdown, there was a curfew in front of his own house,” he added.
The PML-N leader also claimed that the public was aware of the negligence of federal government and they already knew that PTI could do nothing for them.
“Where are all those tiger force workers who were appointed to distribute ration among the masses during COVID-19 lockdown? Now that the lockdown has been lifted, where are those ration bags? Abbasi asked.
The PML-N leader added that the public needs to know if there is a lockdown in the country or not. “The public needs to know the government’s strategy. Just today the government threatened again that if the public does not follow safety precautions, the lockdown will be enforced once again in the country.”
