Fire extinguished at PM Secretariat; says Police

ISLAMABAD: Fire broke out at sixth floor of the Prime Minister Secretariat has been extinguished after prompt response by teams of fire brigades and rescue teams, police said on Monday.

The PM Secretariat was immediately evacuated as emergency was declared at the building. Police said that initial cause of fire has been ascertained to be an electrical short circuit while further investigation into the incident was underway.

Police said that building was immediately evacuated after the fire and no casualty has been reported. Till filing of this report, police said that cooling process was underway and additional vehicles of fire bridge were present to help check if the fire has been completely extinguished.

People gathered at the compound after the fire and remained safe, police source added.
