BUCHAREST: FM Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday reached Bucharest in the first phase of his three day visit to Romania and Spain.
FM will stay in Bucharest till Monday (10th of Jan) at the invitation of Romania’s Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi will hold wide-ranging consultations with the Romanian Foreign Minister and other dignitaries on regional and international issues.
He will subsequently visit Spain Monday on the invitation of Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares Bueno and will stay there till Wednesday.
Besides meeting his counterpart, he will hold talks with other ministers and members of the Spanish Parliament.
He said the strategic partnership between Pakistan and European Union had entered the next level and Pakistan was desirous of enhancing ties with the countries in Europe.
He was speaking at a dinner hosted by him here in honor of members of European Parliament and Parliament of Romania.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Romania Dr Zafar Iqbal accompanied the minister.
While welcoming the guests, the minister said Pakistan gave special significance to relations with Romania which was an important member of the European Union.
Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was focused on economic priorities, he added.
Qureshi said Pakistan – an emerging market of more than 200 million people provided immense opportunities for investment.
He said Pakistan was determined to expand economic and trade ties with all member countries of the European Union including Romania.
Members of Parliament of Romania and European Parliament welcomed the minister and expressed their desire to promote economic relations with Pakistan.
Meanwhile, He had visited the Pakistani Embassy in Bucharest, Romania and inaugurated the Trade and Cultural Exhibition Hall.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Romania Dr Zafar Iqbal and staff of the embassy welcomed the minister.
The hall will be used as a place to hold exhibitions to display and promote goods imported from Pakistan, encourage tourism and highlight soft image of Pakistan.
The minister visited different sections of the embassy and appreciated performance of the embassy staff.
