FM Qureshi says stable Afghanistan is in Pakistan’s interest

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while talking to his Afghan counterpart Mohammed Haneef Atmar by means of telephone on Sunday 18th of April reiterated that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan was in Pakistan’s interest.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi maintaining that Pakistan was a partner in peace efforts in the region, said that his country was committed to continue its conciliatory assistance to make Afghanistan peaceful and stable. FM also stated that Istanbul Process would help make the Doha Agreement fruitful in the pursuit of lasting peace in Afghanistan.

Taking to the Twitter Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated: “Spoke to Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar on bilateral relations & evolving Afghan Peace Process. We support reconciliation in Flag of Afghanistan and progress in peace process, in Istanbul. I look forward to meeting FM Atmar at Istanbul Conf & to hosting him in Pakistan soon after to discuss a way forward post conference.”

Afghan Mohammed Haneef Atmar, while lauding Pakistan’s unceasing diplomatic, political and moral support in making Afghan peace process fruitful, thanked Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the leadership of Pakistan. Both the Foreign Ministers agreed to meet in Istanbul. Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also grasped at the opportunity to invite Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammed Haneef Atmar to visit Islamabad.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived in UAE Saturday 17th of April, 2021 on a three-day official visit. He is scheduled to call on a number of UAE dignitaries including his counterpart Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss regional and global issues. The two sides will also ponder over means to augment bilateral cooperation in trade & investment, job opportunities and welfare of Pakistani diaspora. It is pertinent to mention here that UAE harbors the second largest Pakistani community abroad. The two countries enjoy strong ties profoundly rooted in common faith and norms.

Speaking at a Iftar dinner hosted by Pakistan Business Council here, FM claimed that the PTI-led incumbent government with its economic diplomacy had successfully attracted the world towards the business opportunities available in Pakistan. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that it was a matter of satisfaction that despite Pandemic Pakistan had achieved positive results by means of its diplomacy. Maintaining that the aim of his visit was to promote Pak-UAE trade terms he stated that bilateral relations in diverse fields had improved.
