FM says Pakistan is only a facilitator for peace in Afghanistan (Video and Text)

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while talking to the journalists here at a Presser held here on Monday 9th of August, 2021 made clear that Pakistan was not a guarantor of peace in Afghanistan but only a facilitator. 

FM maintaining that peace and stability in Afghanistan was  a shared responsibility of the international community stressed that Pakistan had facilitated the Afghan Peace Process with sincerity. He reiterated that international community should also come forward and chip in to make sure that peace prevailed in Afghanistan.

Quoting PM Imran Khan  Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that there was no military solution to the Afghanistan Issue. According to the Foreign Minister negotiated, inclusive and broad-based political settlement was the only way forward to ensure long-lasting peace and tranquility in Afghanistan. Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan had no favorites in Afghanistan and would accept whatever the people of Afghanistan decide.

Rejecting the accusations made by the Afghan Representative in UN Security Council Shah Mahmood Qureshi asked the Afghan Govt. to stop blaming Pakistan for failures of others. He further informed that the had invited his Afghan counterpart to visit Islamabad to sit on a table and attempt to solve issues via dialogue.

Noting that the Allied forces were about to abandon Afghanistan completely he appealed all the warring factions in Afghanistan to respect human rights. He further made clear that Pakistan will not allow anybody use its territory  against others.  Alarmingly, the insurgents entered Aibak without a fight after community elders pleaded with officials to spare the city from more violence following weeks of clashes on the outskirts.

Meanwhile, it is a matter of concern for all the neighboring countries that Taliban had already captured sixth  Afghan provincial capital till 9th of August, following a weekend blitz across the north that saw urban centers fall in quick succession and the government struggle to handle the situation.
