COLOMBO: FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi called on the President of Sri Lanka here today.
Bilateral issues, trade, investment and people to people contacts were discussed. FM handed over a letter from President to President of Sri Lanka and invited him to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.COLOMBO: FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi also held a meeting with Sri Lankan Counterpart Dinesh Gunawardena here today and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interests.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated that both countries had supported each other on regional and international matters. Briefing about the dire situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir he reiterated that India was continuously committing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir for over seven decades.
Inviting the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan with a delegation of Sri Lankan Business Community to boost up current volume of bilateral trade and investment, Shah Mahmood Qureshi held that Pakistan had started economic diplomacy.
Both leaders agreed to continue parleys for regional peace and stability. Addressing a Presser Shah Mehmood Qureshi told that two sides exchanged views to strengthen the existing relations.
Earlier FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi reached Colombo on a two day official visit of Sri Lanka on Sunday (1st day of December, 2019), he was received at Bandaranaike International Airport Colombo by Additional Secretary of Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials from Pakistani High Commission.
During his visit the Foreign Minister was scheduled to meet Sri Lankan leaders. Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s Press Conference was also scheduled to express Pakistan’s stance on regional state of affairs.
Talking to Media after his arrival here FM held that Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoyed longstanding and strong bilateral relations. He pointed out that Pakistan and Sri Lanka had always supported each other in diverse fields.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi envisaged better opportunities ameliorating conditions of both the countries. He also reiterated that newly elected President and Prime Minster of Sri Lanka were Pakistan’s friend.
