Former PM arrested by NAB

LAHORE: NAB has nabbed former PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at Thokar Niaz Beg interchange here today in a multi-billion-rupee case about award of a LNG import contract.

According to sources he was summoned by NAB four times but he failed to appear before the bureau. He is accused of “deceitfully, fraudulently and dishonestly causing a loss to the national exchequer, misuse of authority, and obtaining pecuniary advantage through corrupt, dishonest and illegal means during the award of LNG Terminal-1.”

PML-N VP Maryam Nawaz took to the twitter to ask would those elected by the people face the same fate?

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemning  the arrest of former PM,  stated that their their morals would not be damped by such tactics.

It has further been learned that NAB chief has also signed the arrest warrant of former finance minister Miftah Ismail, in the same case. His name was earlier placed on the ECL.
