RAWALPINDI: DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar told Monday here about significant achievements during Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad being carried out to ensure peace all over Pakistan.
Talking to journalists at a Presser held here on the occasion of the completion of four years of Radd-ul-Fasaad, he said the operation was launched to restore people’s confidence in the state and make terrorists completely ineffective.
According to him security forces had carried out the operation under two-pronged strategy of counter-terrorism and counter-violence with the support of people. He told that 375,000 IBOs were carried out across Pakistan in 4 years. He claimed that the state writ was restored over 7500 square kilometers by means of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.
The DG ISPR said 353 terrorists were killed and hundreds of others were arrested. He went on to claim that most of the over 5000 threat alerts were neutralized in the last four years. He said over 72,000 illegal weapons and five million ammunition were recovered. He said 497 border posts were set up. He said demining was also carried out in tribal districts.
He went on to say that 58 new wings of FC were raised and 15 others would be established. He said police and Levies personnel were also trained. He said 96 percent temporarily displaced persons had returned to their homes.
DG told that 717 cases were referred to the military courts; 344 terrorists were awarded death sentence in these cases, and 58 of them were hanged. He said 106 terrorists had been incarcerated for the rest of their lives.
DG stated that socio-economic dividends of the operation have been witnessed KP’s tribal districts. He said 831 development projects worth over 31 billion rupees were being carried out there. He further told that national parade on 23rd of March would be held to propagate the message of “one nation, one destination (Aik quom aik Manzil) “.
Meanwhile CM Pumjab Sardar Usman Buzdar paid rich tributes to the armed forces on successful completion of four years of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.
