French Police dog awarded Medal for sniffing drugs & weapons worth $8.5m

MARSEILLES: Police chief here Pierre-Marie Bourniquel, terming the eight-year-old Belgian Shepherd named Shock as the best police officer, awarded him a Medal of Honor on Tuesday.

During thousands of raids, thanks to his outstanding smelling capability, Shock has led the authorities to fifty weapons of different types, 850 kgs cannabis, 22 kgs cocaine and 1.5 million Euros in cash.

As the medal for ‘devotion and bravery’ was placed around his neck the national anthem of France was played.

Moreover, acknowledging his talent the authorities have given an extension of a year to Shock. He was scheduled to retire in the current year.
