KARACHI: Federal Urdu University Director (ORIC) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Versiani and Meezan Bank Limited representative Ahmed Ali Siddiqui SEVP and Head of SCD signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) here on Friday (27th of Jan 2023).
Under this agreement a grant will be provided for capacity building of faculty members in Islamic banking and finance.
Acting Registrar Prof. Dr. Zareena Ali, Dr. Faisal Javed were also present on this occasion.
The scope of the program is to equip the faculty members with basic and advanced knowledge of Islamic finance so that they can promote this subject at the academic level, can impart and produce future professionals in this field.
The grant worth Rs five lakh will be provided to be utilized for this program that will end on 30th day for June, 2023.
The objective of the grant is to help Federal Urdu University to enhance the capacity of its full-time faculty members in Islamic finance and related fields.
The training sessions will be conducted by State Bank of Pakistan’s National Institute of Banking and Finance (SBP-NIBAF) and Institute of Business Administration’s Center for Excellence in Islamic Finance (IBA CEIF).
Speaking on the occasion Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ziauddin maintained: “This kind of training session will not only help in enhancing the capacity of our faculty but also benefit the students.
“We are grateful to Meezan Bank for the grant and we are sure that it will benefit our faculty members and will have a significant impact on the education of the students”.
Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, SEVP and Head of SCD Meezan Bank held: “Meezan Bank is committed to promoting Islamic finance and related fields and we are proud to cooperate with Urdu University’s faculty members in the capacity building of its faculty.
He further said that the grant will help in the development of future professionals in the field of Islamic finance and the development of the industry.
