ROME: In a joint statement issued on Saturday (8th March, 2025) the foreign ministers of UK, Italy, Germany and France supported the $53B Arab Plan apropos reconstruction of Gaza sans displacing the populace from the strip.
The 4 European FMs maintained: “We, the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom welcome the Arab initiative of a Recovery and Reconstruction Plan for Gaza. The plan shows a realistic path to the reconstruction of Gaza and promises – if implemented – swift and sustainable improvement of the catastrophic living conditions for the Palestinians living in Gaza.
“Recovery and reconstruction efforts must be based upon a solid political and security framework acceptable to both Israelis and Palestinians, which provides long term peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians alike. We are clear that Hamas must neither govern Gaza nor be a threat to Israel any more. We explicitly support the central role for the Palestinian Authority and the implementation of its reform agenda.
“We commend the serious efforts of all involved stakeholders and appreciate the important signal the Arab states have sent by jointly developing this recovery and reconstruction plan. We are committed to working with the Arab initiative, the Palestinians and Israel to address those issues together, including security and governance. We urge all parties to build on the plan’s merits as a starting point.“
It may be recalled that in an emergency summit in Cairo on 4th March Arab leaders have approved a $53 billion plan to reconstruct Gaza.
Following the hours-long rendezvous, Arab League’s Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit maintained : “The Egypt Plan is now an Arab Plan.” Deciphering the Arab Plan he said that their stance was to reject any displacement, whether voluntary or forced.
It is pertinent to mention here that Trump had pitched an idea for the US to take over Gaza, move its population to other countries and build a Riviera. Arab Plan has been meticulously presented in the form of a 91-page document to beat Trump’s Middle East Riviera Plan.
Arab Plan is supposed to unfold in three stages that includes cleaning the rubble and removing the unexploded missiles within six months; Housing 1.5 million people in Containers. Both America and Israel have rejected the Arab Plan for the reconstruction of Gaza Strip utilising $53 billion sans removing the 2.1 million citoyens.
