Gaza: Israel accepts Biden’s deal for winding down the war

GAZA: Ophir Falk, chief foreign policy advisor to Netanyahu, while talking to Sunday Times, has confirmed on Sunday (2nd June, 2024) that Israel had accepted the deal advocated by Joe Biden for winding down the war although it was flawed and required much working.

He made clear though it was not a good deal, they wanted all the hostages to be released. Moreover, Israel’s stand apropos destruction of Hamas did not change.

It is pertinent to mention here that President Joe Biden, calling the Israeli offer – releasing prisoners in exchange – for ceasefire the best way to commence winding down the conflict, called Saturday (1st June, 2024) on Hamas to agree to it.

According to the solution of the conflict outlined by Biden during the six-week of ceasefire Israeli forces would withdraw from all populated areas of Gaza.

In a televised offer Biden held: “Israel has offered a comprehensive new proposal. It’s a roadmap to an enduring ceasefire and the release of all hostages.”

According to Biden the first six-week phase would include:

  • A full and complete ceasefire;
  • Withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas of Gaza;
  • Release of a number of prisoners, including women, the elderly, the wounded, in exchange for release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

Nevertheless, Hamas has responded positively to the US president’s solution of the conflict.
