GAZA: PM Nethanyahu, during his brief visit to the Strip on Wednesday (20th Nov, 2024) has offered US$5 million per hostage and a safe passage to anyone who helps secure release of Israeli hostages presently in the custody of Hamas.

While Netanyahu had earlier assured his people that all the hostages would be brought back by using military force against Hamas, after passage of over a year, protest in Israel have intensified demanding the PM to strike a deal with the group and bring the hostages back.

It may be recalled that Hamas attacked Israel on 7th October, 2023, killed 1400 men, women and children and took 254 people (of different nationalities) back to Gaza as hostages. Cynics go haywire seeing that the Israel-Hamas war had so far consumed 45,000 Palestinian and 1,706 Israeli lives. Savants fail to comprehend why (ill-prepared) Hamas attacked Israel? Was it not expecting that Israel would retaliate due to presence of hostages in Gaza?
