Ghulam Haider Jamali removed as IG Sindh

KARACHI: Sindh Police chief Ghulam Haider Jamali has been relieved of his duties as Inspector General (IG) Police Sindh on Saturday.

According to initial reports, IG Sindh has been relieved from his duties after he found guilty in the allegation of corruption in illegal appointments in the police and a lack of transparency in allocation of cost of investigation to investigation officers. In his stead, A.D Khawaja, additional IG Sindh, has been appointed as new IG of the province.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the appointment of AD Khawaja who was serving as the Additional IG of Sindh Police before being given the full charge.

However, Khawaja will take charge after proper approval of PM Nawaz who is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia.

Jamali had assumed the charge of new IGP Sindh formally in September 2014 following the removal of Iqbal Mehmood..

Federal government has issued the notification of Jamali’s removal and appointment of the Khawaja as new IG Sindh.
