Gilani stresses unity among Muslims

MULTAN: Former prime minister and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) central leader Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Saturday that unity among Muslims was a need of the hour.

While talking to the media here, he said that Islam is a religion of peace, love and brotherhood and conspiracies to damage the image of Islam were being hatched at international level.

He appreciated the role and conduct of New Zealand’s prime minister after occurrence of a terrorist attack in her country.

Gilani said that the PPP has an ideology and it rendered lots of sacrifices for democracy and protection of its ideology.

“Our party will continue to work for sanctity of the Constitution,” he added.

The PPP leader claimed that its candidate would win the by-election in PP-218. About south Punjab province, Gilani said the PPP was the first political party which raised voice for a separate province in the region.
