Govt not to finish 18th amendment

ISLAMABAD: PM’s Special Assistant on Media Iftikhar Durrani today said that PTI govt was not considering any proposal to roll back the 18th amendment.

While talking to a private news channel, he said, the present government was taking many steps to empower the provinces more and not considering any proposal to finish the 18th amendment.  He said PTI came into power after a long struggle and taking decisions on its own will without taking dictation from anyone. 

Durrani said the PTI in its last tenure in KPK through local body system transferred the powers to grassroots level for solving the problems of the common people at their doorsteps. The government wanted to empower the provinces and would announce NFC Award according to their fixed and announced share, he added  

The entire nation including politicians would hopefully witness speedy development changes, economic prosperity and heavy foreign investments coming to Pakistan in the next couple of months.  The SAPM said the Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), could not focus on streamlining the system while serving the country in their previous tenures.  

He said that PTI government, under the dynamic vision of Imran Khan, was fully committed to resolving the problems of the provinces and poor people of the country.  

Durrani said the PTI had set precedents in KP during its last tenure of government in the province.  He said that the KPK following the PTI vision had taken the steps for depoliticizing police besides ensuring quality education and health system to the people of the area.  

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted to ensure merit-based system at every level in the country. People belonging to any segment of society would see the drastic economic changes in Pakistan, adding that dream of PTI leader would come true in near future.

Relevant: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Youth Affairs Usman Dar Wednesday said the government had nothing any fear from opposition criticism and Pakistan Peoples Party was doing politics on the 18th amendment. He said the government was working for revamping national institutions which were badly destroyed during the last tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan was working to strengthen the national economy as well as all institutions. Usman Dar said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government was ruling center and three provincial governments due to its five years performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and people of the country had shown their confidence on honest leadership of Imran Khan, adding that PTI would again make government in 2023 due to its performance. He said the incumbent government and its leadership were against the menace of corruption and fully committed to eliminating the menace from the society.
