Govt strictly monitors sugarcane crushing season

JHANG: Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad Asif Iqbal Chaudhry has said that Punjab government is strictly monitoring each and every step of crushing season in the province.
All sugar mills are bound to purchase sugarcane produce at the fixed price of Rs 180 per 40 kg. This was stated by the commissioner while presiding over a meeting to review measures taken by Jhang administration on different drives and campaigns. Deputy Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Wahid Arjumand Zia, Assistant Commissioners and district heads of different departments attended the meeting. Deputy Commissioner briefed about crushing season, control on electricity theft, Clean and Green Punjab, anti-encroachment drive and recovery of government dues.
He said that monitoring teams are active in all tehsils of the district and mills authority have been directed to purchase sugarcane at government price. He said mills authorities have been asked to issue CPRs on the spot. All steps in the crushing of sugarcane are under complete monitoring of checking teams. He said as far as a campaign of control of electricity theft, 112 FIRs were registered against pilferage of electricity and Rs 4,800,000 were fined out of which Rs 2,100,000 have been recovered. He said cleanliness and operations under anti-encroachment drive are being continued in the district. He said action against unlawful Bus and Wagon stands have been taken to facilitate the citizens.
Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad directed the concerned officers to adopt a comprehensive policy to administer government policies for the welfare of citizens. He said that revenue officers should regularly conduct field visits to solve public problems. Later, he visited sugar mills in tehsil Athara Hazari and checked the different steps of the crushing process.
