Govt taking action to eliminate child labor

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Ansar Majeed Khan said the initiatives of employees’ welfare and protection of their basic rights taken by the government were the proofs of labor-friendly policies of the PTI government.

Labour and Human Resources department has achieved the 100-day agenda after announcing Labour Policy 2018 and Domestic Workers Act. Secretary Labour Sarah Aslam had played a key role in making strategies to facilitate labor rights, he added. According to Labour Policy 2018, the employees of commercial institutions would be able to fight for their rights, while efforts to establish Workers Welfare Fund were being made on the provincial level.

 The minister further said the government was also taking initiatives for the elimination of child labor, up gradation of social security hospitals and health facility of employees.  Grand operation against child labor was taken by the labor department in the whole province, he said and added that betterment in the lifestyle of labor and their welfare were the top priorities of the PTI government. A clear policy would be introduced to solve the issue of employees of contract, construction and agriculture sectors, the minister concluded.
