Govt trying to improve Pak. Post efficiency

ISLAMABAD: Govt trying to improve Pak. Post efficiency, The government is making efforts to improve the efficiency of Pakistan Post under Prime Minister Postal Reforms Agenda.

An official of Ministry of Postal Services told the Media  that the Postal Reforms Agenda has been under process for the last three years, adding that the approved reforms agenda includes Mobile Money Solution (MMS), Pakistan Post Logistic Company, re-branding of Pakistan Post, initiatives through the public-private partnership and many other reforms as well.

He said that the government wants to improve the overall financial situation of Pakistan Post for which a number of steps have been taken. Similarly, through Pakistan Post Logistic Company, it would be possible for the people to send things, having a weight of 50kg at cheaper rates as compared to heavy rates of private services like TCS and Leopards Couriers etc.

In re-branding of Pakistan Post, reforms include changes in signboards and changing in the other infrastructure of different post offices as well.

Relevant post published earlier: Pakistan Post to computerize GPOs record, The Postal Services will complete the process of computerization of records in General Post Offices (GPOs) by December this year and then the same mechanism for 3,200 Post Offices will be initiated. Under the Postal Reforms Agenda, the government has planned to re-brand and upgrade post offices with a new logo and a changed outlook to revitalize its perception among the general public. An official said that Pakistan Post generated Rs 11 billion revenue from its various services while ‘same day mail’ service had been started in the twin cities and it would be inaugurated in Lahore. The Urgent Mail Service (UMS), he said, had been introduced with track and trace system to improve the service while in Rs 40 a posted mail is transferred across the country. The Electronic Money Order (EMO) is the swift way to transfer money from one post office to another post office. This service is available at 83 GPOs of the country. (25th of May, 2018)
