Police shot dead the man brandishing knife on London Bridge

LONDON: Police has shot dead a man who was brandishing a knife on London Bridge here today.

United Kingdom’s top counter-terrorism officer, Neil Basu while talking to the Media informed: “A male suspect was shot by specialist armed officers from the City of London police and I can confirm that this suspect died at the scene…

“A number of other people received injuries during this incident…We believe a device that was strapped to the body of the suspect was a hoax explosive device.”

Metropolis Police took to the twitter to inform the public about firing incident at London Bridge in which five people got severely injured:

“Police were called at 1:58pm to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge. Emergency services attended, including officers from the Met…

“A man has been detained by police. We believe a number of people have been injured. Further info to follow…

“We are currently dealing with an incident at London Bridge. Please stand by for updates…Keep following this Twitter feed for the latest updates on the incident in London Bridge.”

The incident comes 18 months after the 2017 terrorist attack on London Bridge which saw three men kill eight people and injure 48 others.

She reiterated her government’s resolve apropos holding of general elections on Thursday 8th of June despite the attacks: “Violence can never be allowed to disrupt the democratic process”.

It is pertinent to mention here the election campaigns of most major parties had come to a halt due to Saturday attack. 

However, she has been urged by the opposition leaders not to suppress reports into funding of Jihadi outfits.

Sources privy to NewsPakistan.TV have informed that out of some 50 people who got injured in the attack, 21 are fighting for their lives.

NewsPakistan.TV has learned that eight armed Police officers have fired 50 rounds to kill three attackers and probably killed and injured one or more innocent civilians in the process.

According to the police assistant commissioner a member of the public was shot as officers tried to neutralize the terrorists with an “unprecedented” level of gunfire.

However, he confirmed that the injured individual was not in a critical condition and was recovering satisfactorily in hospital. 

Meanwhile, IS has claimed responsibility of the Saturday 3rd June attack. The statement “A detachment of Islamic State fighters executed yesterday’s London attack” was run by the news agency Amaq that usually publishes IS claims. 

Another unauthentic report says that the attackers (at the Bridge and Borough Market) had repeatedly shouted This is for Allah!

Trump while reacting to Mayor Sadiq Khan’s comments apropos the third terrorist attack in the UK in three months tweeted:

Coordinated Terror attacks: Seven killed on London Bridge and Borough Market

LONDON: Coordinated terror attacks were carried out here Saturday night on atleast two sites resulting into death of not less than seven people.

According to details a van mowed down pedestrians on London Bridge while a knife attack was reported in a cafe that is located at a little distance. 

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan tweeted terming it a deliberate and cowardly attack. 

It is pertinent to mention here that in the month of March, 2017 another driver drove a vehicle into the pedestrians here.

And a fortnight ago  a suicide bomber attacked the party-goers at the end of Ariana Grande performance.
