HEC Vision 2025: Govt to expand number of higher educational institutions in country

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government has planned to increase the number of higher educational institutions in the country under the HEC Vision 2025.

The HEC Vision 2025 aims at aligning Human Resource Development platform with Economic Development platform to create knowledge economy and produce a skilled human resource catering the demands of time.

The government has allocated a sum of 35.7 billion rupees for the Higher Education sector for its plan of educational institutions expansion for the next fiscal year.

“Under the plan, one hundred and fifty affiliated community colleges will be established in across the country to produce skilled human resource,” an HEC official said, adding that fifteen new research universities will be established offering innovative programmes of international standard in Technologies, medicine, agriculture, communication and allied health professions.

He further went on to add that the plan envisages setting up more than hundred smart campuses of different Public sector universities in underdeveloped areas.
