LAHORE: Newly appointed Caretaker CM Askari Rizvi has said today that holding of fair, free and impartial general elections would be his top priority agenda.

“I have no political agenda,” he added. Talking to Media here at his residence after his appointment he said: “I will try my best to discharge my duty in an effective manner”.

Answering a question, the caretaker chief minister said, his cabinet would be concise and comprised of professional and credible people. 

Profile of Dr. Hasan Askari Rizvi: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Professor Dr. Hasan Askari Rizvi is a renowned political and military analyst who served as professor emeritus of political science at his alma mater, Punjab University. He also served as a visiting professor of Pakistan Studies at Columbia University from January 1996 to July 1999. During 1988 to 1991, Dr. Askari served as Professor at Heidelberg University of Germany. On March 23, 2010, the professor was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan. He is author of a number of books, including Military, State, and Society in Pakistan and The military and politics in Pakistan: 1947-1997 among others.
