KARACHI: As the mercury level reached 38 degree Celsius on Sunday here most of the public places in the Metropolis remained deserted.

In a fresh advisory issued on Sunday afternoon Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted that hot weather will continue in the city till Tuesday evening.

“Day temperatures are expected to gradually increase from 38°C to 40°C in Karachi for next two days – this will continue till Tuesday evening – and will start decreasing attaining the normal level from Tuesday late evening”, stated the advisory.

In another recent advisory, Met Office predicted that Karachi will witness at least three heat-waves in second half of May and first half of June.

Last year deadly heat wave hit Karachi, which killed more than 1300 people in the metropolis.

Mostly Karachi’s weather remains normal due to the winds blowing from Arabian Sea, which keeps city relatively cool even during summer.

But due to the formation of low-pressure or deep-sea depression, presently the wind is blowing other way around, which has intensified the temperature.
