ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Human Rights’ Helpline 1099 set for receiving complaints of women has received some 33,000 complaints during the last three months.
According to an official, it was a great achievement to provide a forum for women to register their complaints. The official said that Rs 13 million grant had been approved for the salaries of helpline’s employees, adding the ministry would take further steps for the protection of women under a legal framework.
The main focus of the ministry was women right to inheritance, street children and harmonization of domestic laws with international commitments.
KP: ‘Honor’ killing incident condemned
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women has strongly condemned another brutal honor killing incident in Kohistan by the brother of Afzal Kohistani.
The incident was reported to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women by the Civil Society network on May 26, 2019. A month ago, Afzal Kohistani, a human right defender and a leading character in Kohistan Video Scandal was killed in Abbottabad, who stand alone against the honor killing issue in Kohistan, says a press release issued by the commission here on Monday.
An FIR was lodged against one of his brother Gul Nazar, who according to the FIR has killed one of his relative in the honor killing and accused him of having a relationship with his Bahbi Hira, wife of Afzal Kohistani.
Meanwhile, the family of the girl also moved an application in Thana Cantt Abbottabad that Hira Bibi, wife of Afzal Kohistani along with her daughter is also missing from last four (04) days. The family of the Hira Bibi has requested search and safe recovery of the missing Hira Bibi. The Commission took a serious notice of the matter as the life of Hira Bibi is in danger.
The Secretary of the Commission telephonically contacted the District Police Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Abbottabad and asked for serious actions against the culprits and safe recovery of Hira Bibi. The Commission also write letters to the authorities for immediate necessary actions in the matter and report furnish to the Commission on immediate basis. As this the case of Women Life.
N. Waziristan: 5 bodies found from a nullah!
N. Waziristan: Patrolling soldiers found five bullet-riddled bodies of unidentified people from a nullah in Boya area 1.5km away from the Army Check-Post in Shawal Valley here that was attacked by PTM workers yesterday.
It is pertinent to mention here that one of the five soldiers – who were critically wounded during the exchange of fire – has succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Gul Khan.

SC commences hearing cases via E-Court System!
ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa is hearing cases here today through the application of latest video link connectivity.
Utilizing the system, lawyers presented their arguments from the Karachi registry through a video link. In the early stages, the e-court system will be available in apex court’s Islamabad and Karachi registry.
CJ, in his remarks on the occasion, maintained that the E-court system was an important step saying towards ensuring inexpensive and speedy justice to the people. CJ also lauded the efforts of NADRA for developing E-Court System.
