HR ministry’s helpline receives 33K complaints

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Human Rights’ Helpline 1099 set for receiving complaints of women has received some 33,000 complaints during the last three months.
According to an official, it was a great achievement to provide a forum for women to register their complaints. The official said that Rs 13 million grant had been approved for the salaries of helpline’s employees, adding the ministry would take further steps for the protection of women under a legal framework.
The main focus of the ministry was women right to inheritance, street children and harmonization of domestic laws with international commitments.
