Husnain Murder: PFUJ/IFJ protest

KARACHI: Members of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) converged before the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday (25th of January, 2022) to protest against the murder of Capital TV reporter Husnain Shah. 

President PFUJ GM Jamali demanded the Punjab and Federal Governments to arrest the killers of Hasnain Shah immediately. Pointing out that journalists across the country were no longer safe, he warned though presently nationwide protests were being held, if the killers of Husnain Shah were not nabbed sit-ins would be staged. KUJ President Ejaz Ahmed asked how assassins of Hasnain Shah escaped by firing in the highly secured Red Zone of Lahore.

Among others who spoke at the protest there were KUJ General Secretary Aajez Jamali, former President Hassan Abbas, Akram Baloch of Parliamentary Reporters Association, President of Pakistan Association of Press Photographers (PAP) Jamil Ahmed, Sindh Sports Journalists Association (SJAS), General Secretary Asghar Azeem, Joint Action Committee Leader Mehnaz Rehman.

The protesters, chanting slogans, demanded the Punjab government to arrest the killers of Hasnain Shah without delay.
