MEXICO CITY: Claudia Sheinbaum, who was elected Mexico’s first woman president by a landslide on Sunday (2nd June, 2024) has vowed that she would not fail her people.
The 61-year-old former Mexico City mayor (a scientist by training) in a victory speech to the singing and dancing crowd thanked the millions of women and men who had elected her the president and vowed: “I won’t fail you”!
According to preliminary unofficial results, Sheinbaum bagged 58-60 percent of votes.
Sheinbaum said that she would continue the outgoing president’s hugs not bullets strategy of tackling crime at its racines.
