NICE: One of the greatest shocks ever in the history of Euro Cup was pulled out by Iceland (population-wise the smallest country in Euro 2016, having absolutely no tournament pedigree) when it cowed-down England 2-1.
The pundits at the Euro 2016’s helm of affairs went haywire when they came to know that Iceland (a country harboring only 329,000 people) beat England (that boasts of a population of 53,000,000).
The David did manage to slain Goliath claiming the most earth-shattering victory in Iceland’s history. Through a Wayne Rooney penalty England took lead but in less than a minute it was evened by Iceland’s Ragnar Sigurdsson who swept in at the back post following a flick-on from a long pass.
On eighteenth minute Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored when he found space on the edge of the box. At the break manager of English team Roy Hodgson substituted Eric Dier by Jack Wilshere but still failed to inject any gusto in the team.
