IHC discharges Contempt of Court Notice against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: A five-member bench of IHC, headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah, unanimously discharged the Show Cause Notice on Monday (3rd of October, 2022) issued to PTI Chairman/ former prime minister Imran Khan for threatening Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry at on 20th of August 2022 while addressing a public rally.

The bench, (that was comprised of – besides IHC CJ – Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Babar Sattar) maintained that it was satisfied with Imran Khan’s apology and conduct.

It is pertinent to mention here that former premier had submitted an affidavit a couple of days ago to the court saying that he would never do anything in the future that would hurt the dignity of any court and the judiciary, particularly the lower judiciary. Imran Khan, in the submitted affidavit, said that he was ready to take further action in order to satisfy the court.

Imran Khan, (who had stated in the affidavit that he was willing to apologize if Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry thought that he had crossed the red line) had appeared at the court of the said Judge to personally apologize (but Zeba Ch. was not available in the court at that time).
