Inciting Mutiny: Lt Col (R) Akbar Hussain convicted!

RAWALPINDI: Lt. Col. (R) Akbar Hussain (who was booked by Capital Police in 2023 accusing him of terrorism, for participating in riots in the wake of IK’s arrest) has been convicted and awarded punishment of fourteen years rigorous imprisonment under Pakistan Army Act, 1952 by means of Court Martial, for inciting mutiny among military personnel here on Tuesday (30th July, 2024).

Pursuant to the awarded sentence, the rank of Lt. Col. (R) Akbar Hussain has been forfeited on 26th July, 2024.

It may be recalled that Major (R) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (R) Haider Raza Mehdi had earlier been courts-martialled and convicted for inciting edition among army personnel: “The court of competent jurisdiction had convicted and adjudged both Adil Farooq Raja and Haider Raza Mehdi on the date of October 7 and 9, 2023, through due judicial process, with the punishments awarded as 14 and 12 years of rigorous imprisonment respectively and forfeiture of rank of both individuals with effect from November 21, 2023,” stated ISPR.

Major (R) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (R) Haider Raza Mehdi, were found guilty: “Under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952 for the charges of inciting sedition among army personnel from discharge of duties and violation of the provisions of Official Secrets Act, 1923 related to espionage and acts prejudicial to the safety and interest of the state”.

Following Court Martial Adil Farooq Raja had been sentenced to fourteen years qaid-e-bamushaqqat, while Haider Raza Mehdi was handed 12 years rigorous imprisonment. ISPR stated: “The court of competent jurisdiction convicted and adjudged both the individuals on the date of 7th and 9th Oct. 2023, through due judicial processPursuant to the awarded sentence, the ranks of both officers have been forfeited on Nov 21, 2023.” It is pertinent to mention here that both Adil Farooq Raja and Haider Raza Mehdi are based abroad and are very active in Social Media.

Major (Retired) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (Retired) Haider Raza Mehdi, both retired officers of Pakistan Army, were convicted and sentenced through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under Pakistan Army Act, 1952 for the charges of inciting sedition among army personnel from discharge of duties and violation of the provisions of Official Secrets Act, 1923 related to espionage and acts prejudicial to the safety and interest of the State. The court of competent jurisdiction convicted and adjudged both the individuals on the date of 7th and 9th October 2023, through due judicial process.
