KARACHI: Ex-Police official Iqbal Mehmood has been appointed as the new Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Pakistan.
The decision was made by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.
The official notification of Mehmood’s appointment will be issued shortly after which he will formally assume the role of DG FIA..
Previously, he was appointed to be the IG Sindh in February, after the retirement of the previous Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Shahid Nadeem Baloch.
Mehmood is one of the senior most officials in the Sindh police and has served at a number of posts including as the Additional Inspector General of Karachi twice and as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at different places.
