Iran police kills four IS suspects during a major security operation

TEHRAN: Iranian police killed four suspected terrorists associated with the militant Islamic State (IS) group in the southern province of Hormuzgan, state media said.

The terrorists, including two foreigners, were killed during a major security operation which is underway after 17 people were killed last Wednesday in suicide bombings and gun attacks in Tehran.

“Police forces clashed with the four men and killed them in a mountainous area in southern Iran,” a local police chief told journalists.

Guns, ammunition, explosives and the IS flags were seized during the operation, the official added.
