TEHRAN: Ali Akbar Salehi, chief of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, in response to US President Donald Trump’s intimidation has stated that his country only requires five days to ramp-up its uranium enrichment to a level needed to make nuclear weapons (i.e. 20%).

Ali Akbar Salehi, who is also the Vice President of Iran, has said: “If there is a plan for a reaction and a challenge, we will definitely surprise them. If we make the determination, we are able to resume 20 per cent-enrichment in at most five days.

“Definitely, we are not interested in such a thing happening. We have not achieved the deal easily to let it go easily. We are committed to the deal and we are loyal to it.”

It is pertinent to mention here that due to 2015 nuclear deal many sanctions imposed on Iran were lifted enabling the country come out of crippling economic situation.

Due to the nuclear deal struck with world powers Iran gave up most of its stockpile of 20% enriched uranium. Presently uranium enrichment is capped at five per cent.

Trump has time and again threatened to walk away from the 2015 nuclear deal or renegotiate it.

In response to the threats Irani President has warned that if US continues ‘threats and sanctions’ Iran could ramp up its nuclear program and quickly achieve an advanced level.
