Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned of escalation following Israeli strikes at steel plants, uranium processing facility and heavy water complex in Yazd on Friday (27th March, 2026). President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian talks about Israel attack on Irani energy installations including uranium processing facility Iran, while confirming the attacks on civilian uranium processing facility, stated that there was no threat of radioactive leaks.

Irani President took to the X to state: “We have said many times that Iran doesn’t carry out pre-emptive attacks, but we will retaliate strongly if our infrastructure or economic centers are targeted. To the countries of the region: If you want development and security, don’t let our enemies run the war from your lands.”

The nuclear watchdog stated: “…IAEA has been informed by Iran that the Shahid Rezayee Nejad Yellow Cake Production Facility in Yazd province (also known as Ardakan) was attacked today. No increase in off-site radiation levels reported. The IAEA is looking into the report. IAEA Director General Rafael M Grossi reiterates call for military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident.”

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi noted that Israel’s attacks (on two of Iran’s biggest steel mills, a number of civilian nuclear sites, & a power plant) were in violation of the ‘Trumpian (energy structure) ceasefire till 6th April, 2026′. He said that US and Israel would pay a heavy price.

Pakistan, that happens to enjoy relatively good terms with both US and Iran, engaged in a war since 28th Feb, has offered to help bring the duo to the negotiating table as a mediator.

It is pertinent to recall that back in 1972 Pakistan facilitated Nixon’s visit to China that later resulted into establishment of diplomatic ties between two countries. Then in 1988 Islamabad played a major role in signing of Geneva Accord that ended the chapter of USSR’s march towards warm waters via Afghanistan.

In the present scenario Pakistan had passed US message to Iran. Tehran, rejecting 15-point American proposal, presented its own 5-points for peace to Washington via Islamabad. It has further been insinuated that Istanbul and Cairo too have been playing their role as arbitrators.

Pakistan itself will benefit from peace in the region as a major portion of its oil and gas is imported from ME. Moreover, stoppage of foreign exchange being sent back home by 5,000,000 Pakistanis working there, would devastate its economy.
