Is coronavirus forcing Ranbir Kapoor to cancel his marriage this year?

MUMBAI: Bollywood love couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is planning to marry very soon. The duo is often seen attending star-studded events together. Recently, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt attended a ceremony with the actor’s parents Neetu and Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir’s mom was asked about marriage of the couple. She said that her son is thinking about tying the knot this year. Seems it might not be possible. All thanks to coronavirus which has forced the world to go into the lockdown mode. Many planned ceremonies have either been postponed or canceled.

On the other side, the Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani actor avoids reacting to the questions regarding his marriage. He didn’t care to respond when he was asked about any marriage plans in 2020 during a promotional event of his movie. The journalist asked him the same question again, Ranbir replied: “Kuch aur pooch le na Yaar, meri shadi se kya interest hai tere ko??” [Why don’t you ask something else? Why are you taking interest in my marriage].

But Neetu’s hint has revealed a lot. Ranbir’s star mom has at least told us that the Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani actor is planning to marry in 2020. Unfortunately, we don’t have any confirmed month and date for the ceremony. Few days ago, a close friend of the couple had hinted that Ranbir and Alia may tie the knot by December this year.

“It was earlier planned as a destination wedding, but now, the families have decided to go ahead with the band-baaja-baaraat in Mumbai, in the last 10 days of December. Thankfully, Rishi’s (Kapoor) health is much better, so the family is looking forward to the celebrations. The wedding functions will tentatively kick off on December 21 and will be spread over four days. But the dates are yet to be locked given the current situation,” he told a daily.

Another thing which Ranbir and Alia’s fans fear the most is the ongoing situation of lockdown in India and rest of the world due to COVID-19. Many countries have enforced lockdown and ordered people to stay at their homes to mitigate the spread of pandemic. Many film shoots and releases have been postponed and the authorities have banned all kind of public gatherings and events. No marriage ceremonies are taking place and there seems a light chance of any in the near future.

Let’s see if the lockdown ends soon and the government allows the public gatherings to take place, or the fans might have to wait for next year to see the couple gets married.
