Japan-India civil nuclear deal will be signed on Friday, Nov.11: Conter-China move

SANA MAHMOOD

TOKYO: In order to counter the ever-increasing Chinese influence, PMs Shinzo Abe and Narendra Modi will sign a deal on Friday (November 11th) enabling Japan export nuclear technology to India.

Modi will reach Japan on Thursday November 10th for a 3-day visit.

The two countries are endeavoring to boost economic and security ties in order to contain the Chinese domination.

This will make India first non-NPT state to agree to such a deal with Japan.   However, Japan has made it clear that the deal will terminate incase India conducts a nuclear test.

It is pertinent to reiterate here that Japan – that claims some areas in East/South Sea & Indian Ocean – is eying Beijing’s expansion by means of deep-water naval presence there.

Following the aforementioned deal a number of business deals will also be inked the very day.

PS: Tomorrow (Monday November 7th) India will agree to buy twelve US $ 1.5 billion worth of US-2 rescue aircraft from Japan.
