BONDI BEACH (SYDNEY): ISIS (Daesh) affiliates, fifty-year-old Indian national hailing from Hyderabad Sajid Akram (a fruit vendor), and his Australian son Naveed (24) shot 15 Jews dead, and injured 40 others (including 2 cops), during a 10-minute shooting spree, here on Sunday (14th Dec. 2025) evening.
That was an antisemitic attack against members of Jewish community who converged there to observe the religious ceremony of lighting candle on the 1st day of Hanukkah.
People have posted a number of videos showing Sajid Akram, using his half-a-dozen licensed heavy guns, along with his son Naveed to kill Jews.
In other clip former Syrian policeman, Ahmed-al-Ahmed, who presently owns a fruit-stall here, is seen pouncing on a gunman and snatching his weapon. He was shot repeatedly by the other gunman, and was hospitalised.
According to details, Sajid Akram (a resident of Sydney suburbs, running a fruit shop), was shot dead by Police, while his son Naveed, who too received bullet wounds), was taken to a medical facility in critical condition. According to sources he had woken from coma and was conscious.
The attack on the members of Jewish community is being treated as an act of terrorism by New South Wales Police Commissioner.

The gunmen had lobbed two pipe-bombs on the crowd but non of them exploded.

It is pertinent to mention here that an IED and two homemade ISIS flags had been recovered from the boot of the vehicle registered to Naveed.

Sajid Akram, was granted a student visa by an Australian diplomatic mission, 27 years ago, when he was 23. He visited India on six occasions since he migrated to Australia in 1998. His son Naveed was born in Australia. It has been insinuated that Sajid Akram’s mother was Italian whereas, his father hailed from India.
Former Syrian Cop, father of two, the 43-year-old fruit vendor Ahmed-Al-Ahmed emerged as a hero as he wrestled and snatched a rifle from him, that he had been using to slain members of the Jew community. Ahmed had been shot twice by the second gunman and had undergone surgery. PM Anthony Albanese, met Ahmed-al-Ahmed at the medical facility and presented a flower bouquet to him.

Talking to state Media outlet ABC, PM Albanese said: “What we’ve seen in the last 24 hours was the worst of humanity in a terrorist act. But we also saw an example of the best of humanity in Ahmed Al Ahmed running towards danger, putting his own life at risk.”

45,000 Australians responded to a fundraising page (gofundme) and raised $ 2,533,585 ($ two million, five hundred thirty-three thousand, five hundred and eighty-five dollars) for Ahmed.

PM Anthony Albanese said that emergency responders were on the ground and working to save lives. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated: “These are the results of the anti-Semitic rampage in the streets of Australia over the past two years, with the anti-Semitic and inciting calls of ‘Globalise the Intifada’ that were realised today.”
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, taking to the X stated: “I am horrified and condemn today’s heinous deadly attack on Jewish families gathered in Sydney to celebrate Hannukah. My heart is with the Jewish community worldwide on this first day of Hannukah, a festival celebrating the miracle of peace and light vanquishing darkness.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said: “The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Australia targeting a Jewish celebration. Antisemitism has no place in this world. Our prayers are with the victims of this horrific attack, the Jewish community, and the people of Australia.” UK PM Keir Starmer maintained: “UK will always stand with Australia and the Jewish community. The news that the Bondi beach attack was an antisemitic terrorist attack against Jewish families at a Chanukah event is sickening.”
French President Emmanuel Macron, noting that antisemitic terrorist attack struck families gathered to celebrate Hanukkah, said: “We share the pain of the Australian people and will continue to fight relentlessly against antisemitic hatred, which hurts us all, wherever it strikes.” It is pertinent to mention here that Australia has recently recognised the state of Palestine.
