KARACHI: Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) will celebrate its 134th Foundation Day here on Saturday, where the historic role of the alma mater of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the national building will be highlighted.
The programme will start at 10:30 am at SMIU’s auditorium. University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh will be the chief guest, said a SMIU statement on Friday.
In 1885, Sindh Madrasat-ul-Islam was set up by a scholar and Sindh Muslim leader Hassanally Effendi to equip the Muslims in Sindh with a quality education. Then, this institution was upgraded to college. With continuous efforts of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh, this institution having a great history of producing big names was given the status of a university, named Sindh Madrasat-ul-Islam University.
The speakers, students, and teachers will pay tribute to the founder of Sindh Madrassah and those who have contributed towards its development and progress.
