WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Egypt on Wednesday, says State Department in a statement.
The Secretary will be visiting Egypt’s capital Cairo to hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.
According to State Department spokesman Mark Toner, Kerry, during his visit, would hold talks on a range of bilateral and regional issues with Egyptian leadership.
Earlier on Monday, Kerry called on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Vienna to discuss the importance of promoting the political settlement in Syria.
The World and regional powers are together in Vienna in an attempt to overcome stubborn divisions among Syrian factions that have led to the rise of extremists.
A meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) will be held today (Wednesday) in the Austrian capital.
US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and foreign ministers of more than 20 countries and organizations will attend the meeting.
