LAHORE: G.M. Jamali, President Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Secretary General (Rana Muhammad Azeem) have strongly condemned the assault on senior journalist Ayaz Amir.
Unidentified men blocked the car of senior journalist Ayaz Amir by means of a vehicle when he emerged from the office of Dunya News Friday (1st of July, 2022) night and took his mobile phone away after unleashing blows on his face.
Commenting on the incident Ayaz Amir stated: “As I questioned the man, a couple of other men also arrived by my side, opened the door of my car and unleashed blows on my face, and dragged me out of the vehicle.”
Ayaz Amir Tweeted: “The job of a journalist is to tell the truth and write the truth, whether one likes it or not As long as I have life in my body, I will continue to speak against dealers. God willing!”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemning the assault on Ayaz Amir directed the CM Punjab to carry out a high-level inquiry. Concerned authorities were directed by the CM Punjab Hamza Shehbaz to ensure early arrest the of those who assaulted the Senior Journalist.
Former PM Imran Khan took to the Twitter to condemn the attack on Ayaz Amir: “I condemn in strongest terms the violence against senior journalist Ayaz Amir today in Lahore. Pak descending into the worst kind of fascism with violence & fake FIRs against journalists,opp politicians, citizens.When the State loses all moral authority it resorts to violence.”
Kanran Khan, President and Editor-in-Chief for the Dunya Media Group held: “Utterly reprehensible attack on Ayaz Amir one of Pakistan’s most respected news commentators in Islamabad. Better ban freedom of speech through a state decree than beating into silence those exercising the right to free speech enshrined in the constitution of Pakistan.”
HRCP condemning the assault Tweeted: “HRCP condemns the assault on senior journalist and former parliamentarian Ayaz Amir by unknown persons. We see it as another cowardly act intended to silence independent voices. HRCP demands an investigation and those found responsible for this act must be brought to book.”
