WEST BENGALURU: Noted journalist and activist, Gauri Lankesh 55, was shot dead outside her house at 8pm today by three armed pillion riders who fired seven rounds of fire on her as she was unlocking the main gate.

Three bullets that pierced through her head, neck and chest proved to be fatal.

Editor of Gauri Lankesh Patrike was known for her articles condemning communal violence in India.

It is pertinent to mention here that she very often criticized the BJP, but on her death the state chief of BJP tweeted lamenting the deteriorating condition of law and order:
