ISLAMABAD: Following the letter written by six IHC judges (out of 8 the court harbors), citing instances of interference by Pakistan’s Intelligence Agencies in the working of Judiciary, CJP Qazi Faez Isa had summoned a Full Court rendezvous here at 4pm Wednesday (27th March, 2024), three hours before iftar.
The huddle headed by the CJP pondered (for a couple of hours) over the issue of Intelligence Agencies’ interference in the Judiciary affairs. Moreover, AGP Mansoor Usman Awan, who talked to CJP about the matter, said that the matter was serious and it should be probed. Earlier, country’s Bar Associations (representing Sindh, Lahore, Islamabad, KP) and Senior Law Experts had demanded a thorough probe into the allegations.

ISLAMABAD: Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz penned the 26th March, 2024 letter.

The unprecedented correspondence written on Tuesday (26th March, 2024) addresses the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) members, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, Supreme Court Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Munib Akhtar and IHC CJ Aamer Farooq and Peshawar High Court CJ Mohammad Ibrahim Khan.
The letter points towards clandestine surveillance inside judges’ residences, pressurizing judges by means of abduction and torture of their relatives, and questions apropos existence of a state policy vis-à-vis intimidation and coercing of judges. Nevertheless, the conspiracy theories are being spread by various quarters, for instance, PML-N is insinuating that this is an attempt to save those involved 9 May riots.
