PESHAWAR: The access to the building of KP Assembly has been blocked by the workers of JUI-F in order to avert the approval of the constitution amendment bill for the Fata-KP merger.
Police resorted to tear-gas shelling and aerial firing when angry stone-pelting demonstrators – chanting slogans against Fata-KP merger – tried to lock the Assembly entrance and tore the pro-Fata-merger posters.
Some twenty demonstrators have been taken into custody after a negotiation offer from the local administration had been rejected by the agitators. Nevertheless, after hours of clashes, LEAs managed to disperse the mob. At least two policemen got injured due to stone-pelting by the agitators.
