LAHORE: Taking to the Twitter (X) IGP Dr Usman Anwar claimed on Friday (23rd August, 2024) that Punjab Police had carried out an operation against Kacha Dacoits and neutralised Bashir Shar who had led the previous day assault on cops.
According to the IGP five accomplices of the slain dacoit (namely Sanaullah Shar, Gada Ali, Kamlu Shar, Ramzan Shar, and Gadi) had received bullet wounds during the retaliatory shoot out and were taken into custody.
Punjab government has announced a Head Money of one crore for the most dangerous Kacha Dacoits. Anybody who helps apprehend the dangerous or lesser dangerous Kacha Dacoits will get five lakh and 2.5 lakh rupees respectively.
It may be recalled that twenty-five dacoits operating in the kacha (riverine) area, armed with rocket-launchers, attacked two Police vehicles on 22nd August, 2024 (within the Rahim Yar Khan’s Machhka PS limits) carrying 20 cops. killing 12 and injuring other 8 (two critically), who were going back after discharging 15-day duties.
Cynics go haywire wondering why the SOPs were not followed. For instance, why the cops were not travelling during the day instead of night; why they were not wearing bullet proof jackets; why they were not transported by means of armoured vehicles? Meanwhile, the five officers, who were kidnapped by the bandits had also been rescued.
