Kaira terms Nawaz’s homecoming rally ‘a campaign to weaken the democratic system’

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira has claimed that the disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif had initiated an agitation campaign to weaken the democratic system in the country.

“His [Nawaz’s] so-called homecoming rally was not more than a bitter campaign against the verdict given by the Supreme Court,” Kaira said, adding that Nawaz is history now as his political career was finished after the verdict.

He also blamed the PML-N for all the ills in the country as it was in the government for 30 years.

“Now the ruling party cannot deceive the masses by making false promises,” he maintained.

Answering a question, Kaira said there was hardly any chance of Sharif-Zardari meeting as the PPP had lost faith in Sharif and had no plans to cooperate with the ruling party.
