KARACHI: As the death toll has risen to 18, FIR against the owner of the building that collapsed yesterday in Gulbahar area, has been registered at Rizvia Police Station in the name of state.
Since the batiment had fallen on two buildings, that too had collapsed, PPC clauses 322 (causing death without intention), 119 (Qisas), 337 (causing bodily harm), 427 (mischief causing material damage) and 190 (aiding & abetting) had been added to the case.
According to sources the building that collapsed was constructed just three years ago. It was when the sixth floor was being added the structure crumbled.

The injured are being treated at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

LAHORE: Six people were killed and four others including two children were injured when a 3-story building collapsed, here today.
According to Rescue-1122, the incident took place in Mohalla Aslam Khan, Bhati Chowk area of the Walled City. Resultantly, six people including Qaisar, Shahbaz, Qasim, Farzana, Shaheen Bibi died under the debris.
The injured namely Khizar (40), Nauf (15) and two children Haseeb (6) and Areeb (3) were retrieved from the debris and shifted to Mayo Hospital for treatment.
The rescuers said few others were also trapped inside the collapsed building, whereas the rescue operation is still going on. Sources privy to NPTV have reported that due to encroachments and wrong planning the streets were so narrow that it was very difficult to carry out rescue operations.
Four crushed to death as dilapidated residential building collapsed in Liaquatabad No. 9

KARACHI: Four people were reportedly crushed to death when a three-storey dilapidated 80sq yard building in Liaquatabad No.9 collapsed at 2am today.
Nine other people, including four ladies, got injured trapped under the rubble. They were pulled out of the debris and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and JPMC.
NewsPakistan.tv correspondent speaking about the cause of collapse reported that recently a third story was illegally built atop the structure harboring four families and tea and paan shops on the ground floor.
Sources maintain that there is strong possibility of the presence of more people trapped in the debris.
Area residents said four families had been residing in the building, which had tea and paan shops on its ground floor.
A large number of rescue workers and police officials took part in the rescue operation.
