KARACHI: Atleast two people reportedly died when a four-storey residential building collapsed in Korangi area here today.

The building collapsed in the Allah Wala Town near Korangi Crossing, leaving several people trapped under the rubble.

Rescue teams reached the spot alongwith heavy machinery and started the operation. As many as eight people including women and children were retrieved from the debris of the collapsed building till filing of this report.

The troops of Pakistan Army have also reached to assist the civil administration in the incident.

A senior official of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA) claimed that the building was constructed illegally on the plot of a playground.
