Kashmir Martyrs Day being observed on both sides of LoC

ISLAMABAD: Both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) would observe the 86th Kashmir Martyrs Day today (Wednesday) with renewed pledge to continue the struggle for the freedom of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian yoke, according to Foreign Office statement.

The day is being observed to commemorate the martyrdom of those Kashmiris who laid down their lives in front of Srinagar Central Jail on 13th July 1931 for the cause of freedom from Dogra Rule.

On this occasion, the authorities have announced state holiday in Azad Kashmir.

Special meetings including seminars and symposiums will be held in all major cities of Azad Kashmir including, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh, Rawalakot, Sudhanoti, Bhimber and Neelam valley and all other small and major towns and cities to pay rich tributes to Kashmiri martyrs to be followed by protest rallies and demonstrations against India.

No compromise on Kashmir issue at any dialogue with India: Sartaj

Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Monday that Pakistan was ready to start the dialogue with India on Kashmir issue but it was not willing to compromise at any stage of the dialogue.

Speaking at a press briefing here at Islamabad, Aziz said Pakistan wants to have peaceful relations with India but will not back down from its principled stand over Kashmir.

Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry were also present on the occasion.
