Katy Perry’s most followed official Twitter account hacked

LOS ANGELES: Pop star Katy Perry’s largest twitter account in the world, having 89 million Twitter followers, was hacked on Monday by unknown hackers.

Media reports said that the hacker, which is also another twitter user, based in Romania, hacked pop singer’s account and posted a series of profanity-filled tweets after taking full control.

The tweets posted by the hacker on Perry’s verified twitter account included a message saying ‘miss u baby @taylorswift13’ and a link to Katy Perry’s unreleased song.

According to some media sources, the user with twitter account @sw4ylol is linked with the hack. Meanwhile, denying the blame, the user came to twitter and posted a tweet asking, “Who TF is Katy Perry”.

However, the account was recovered after a short time.

When asked, twitter refused to comment on the issue due to privacy and security concerns.

“We do not comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons,” a twitter spokesperson said in a statement.

Katy Perry’s representatives were not immediately available for comment when contacted by the media persons.
